Volunteer Programme Lawyer (Judiciary)– Access to Justice Programme

Duration:                               12-24 months 

Irish Rule of Law International has an exciting volunteer opportunity for an International Programme Lawyer to join the dynamic team of our Access to Justice Programme in Malawi. IRLI has been working in Malawi since 2011 to address capacity challenges within the criminal justice sector, with the overall aim of promoting the rule of law and improving access to justice for unrepresented and particularly vulnerable persons. The Programme Lawyer will be seconded to the Malawi Judiciary and will be responsible for on-going capacity building of judges and magistrates and to develop linkages with the judiciary at both High Court and magistrate level. S/he will also assist in the processing of homicide cases and lower grade charged cases, work to improve case management systems and overall access to legal provisions and caselaw for judges and magistrates. The volunteer placement is for a minimum of 12 months.

IRLI Programme Coordinator 

Location:                                Dublin

Start Date:                             End March 2017

Duration:                               1 years (with possibility of extension)

Irish Rule of Law International is looking to hire a dynamic person as Programme Coordinator to support the technical and administrative management of its varied programme portfolio and to help the Executive Director in the overall administration of the organisation. Primary responsibilities will include programme management and support, engagement with legal volunteers and pro-bono lawyers, supporting fundraising as well as communication efforts and overall administrative support. The Programme Coordinator will work full time and will be based in IRLI’s office in Dublin, with occasional travel to programme field locations.
