Vacancy: Programme Lawyer, Access to Justice, Malawi
Irish Rule of Law International is looking for two Programme Lawyers to undertake a voluntary placement in Malawi for one year, commencing end of January 2014. Full job description is available here

IRLI Quarterly Meeting, Tuesday 15th October, 17:30 Law Society
There will be an open IRLI Quarterly meeting on in the Law Society next week, Tuesday 15th Oct at 17:30, for anyone who wants to learn more about the work that we are engaged in. Lawyers will also give presentations specifically about our programmes in Malawi and South Africa and other recent areas of work.

IRLI continues to achieve strong results in our Access to Justice Programme in Malawi. The Programme Lawyers placed in Lilongwe’s Legal Aid Department primarily work to ensure that pre-trial detainees have increased access to their due process rights and that unnecessarily lengthy pre-trial detention is reduced, which impacts directly on overcrowding in the prisons.

IRLI would like to welcome Ms. Ezmerelda Johnson-Amon, Mr. Vishen Singh and Mr. Mandu Nkomo who are on placement in Dublin as part of the Commerical Law Training Programme run by IRLI and the Law Society of South Africa. Our three South African colleagues will be on placement with Matheson, Whitney Moore and McDowell Purcell where they will gain experience in the practice of commercial law. Sincere thanks to the three firms who are supporting our placement programme in Ireland.
